I am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC), consultant, educator, speaker and the owner of THRIVE Counseling Consulting Coaching. I have 19 years experience in providing individual and family counseling, as well as educating individuals, couples, families, and the community on various topics related to improving relationships and family functioning. My specialties are adolescents, self-injurious behaviors, couples counseling, personality disorders in men, and existential crisis in women.. I am a Level 3 trained Gottman Method couples counselor.

My approach with every client is client-centered, holistic, engaging, encouraging, & warm. I consider myself an eclectic practitioner, however, drawing from various therapies & theories in order to flexibly adapt (or prescribe) therapeutic techniques best suited for each individual's problems, diagnosis, or personality. I frequently utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-trained therapy, Gottman Method couples therapy, existential therapy, emotion-focused therapy (EFT) and logotherapy (making meaning of suffering), depending on the level of distress that is described at the initial counseling session, the diagnosis, the age of the client, and the outcome client is seeking. Although I counsel all ages, I have a special rapport with couples and teens/young adults, clients with a background of abuse, trauma, or self-injury, and women experiencing existential distress.

My goal is to offer the right amount of support and guidance to help clients recognize their own potential, start controlling what they can, and move forward to achieve their personalized goals for living their lives fully and without distress. If you feel anxious, depressed, distressed, or stagnant in your life, I would like to help.

Additionally, I train mental health professionals, social workers, medical professionals, and educators at both the local and regional speaking level on effective interventions for clients struggling with self-injury; inappropriate social-networking/monitoring; social skills development utilizing social networking tools; parenting for children/teens; infant mental health and attachment style; and biopsychosocial assessment of behavior.

I am a certified instructor of Youth Mental Health First Aid and train school districts and health professionals.

I am also a qualified supervisor for registered mental health counselor interns working towards independent licensure.

I feel strongly that training others allows each professional to go on to change the world of each client they eventually work with.
